Tree Protection Plan — questions
Is a tree protection plan the same as an impact assessment?
No. The impact assessment determines which trees can be retained and what the impacts are. The protection plan is the practical instruction set for the site — where the fencing goes, what can happen inside it, and how. Councils commonly condition both.
What happens if the protection zone is breached during construction?
Two problems. The tree may decline or fail months later, and you may be in breach of your approval conditions — which can hold up certification. Documented protection with a monitoring schedule is what prevents both.
